Dhaka Polytechnic Institute

Dhaka Polytechnic Institute (Bengali: ঢাকা পলিটেকনিক ইন্সটিটিউট, also known as DPI) is a government technical institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In contemporary Bangladesh, it is both the largest and the oldest polytechnic institution. According to the 2018 Bangladesh Polytechnic Ranking, the polytechnic is rated first.
History
Oklahoma State University-Stillwater founded the "East Pakistan Polytechnic Institute, Dacca" in May 1955 with assistance from the Ford Foundation. It changed to "Dacca Polytechnic Institute" by the middle of the 1960s.
Directorates
The Directorate of Technical Education, on behalf of the Ministry of Education, has executive supervision for the institute. The Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) is responsible for maintaining the academic programs and curricula. The Chief Accounts Office, which is under the Directorate of Inspection and Audit, is responsible for BTEB.
