Viqarunnisa Noon School and College

1/A, Baily Road, Dhaka-1229

An educational institution that is well organized, elegant, and well run is crucial to the self-development of a country. The dream of creating citizens of the country can only be realized with a good education. One of the few educational institutions in Bangladesh that has accepted this significant responsibility is Vikarunnisa Noon School and College. In the center of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on 1/A New Bailey Road beneath Ramna Thana, you can find Vikarunnisa Noon School. About one kilometer separates it from Gulistan, Dhaka's zero point, while 10 kilometers separate it from Dhaka Zia Airport. The Ramana Preparatory School was founded in the Ramana Gymkhana in 1947, sowing the seeds of this institution. Begum Vikarunnisa Noon, the foreign spouse of Mr. Feroze Khan Noon, the then-governor of East Pakistan, visited the school later in 1950 and was impressed by its administration, educational program, and sense of discipline. She opened Viqarunnisa Noon School on January 14, 1952, at Bailey Road. The institution was renamed Viqarunnisa Senior Cambridge Institution after that. A school with a sole Bengali language curriculum was created following Bangladesh's independence in 1972. The school was raised from secondary to higher secondary status in 1978. Due to an increase in student enrollment, a branch of the school was established in 1986, and in 1995, a branch of the school was raised in the Dhanmondi neighborhood. Additionally, two branches of Prabhati and Vaikali were started there. English-medium instruction began in the main building in 1995 with the sixth standard and gradually advanced to the higher secondary. First grade in English was introduced in 2005, while fourth grade was added in 2006. In order to fulfill the ongoing demand from female students and to develop female education, two branches in Prabhati and Baikalik branches in Bashundhara were enlarged from the first to the sixth standard in the academic year 2000. Female education will now be gradually improved to the 12th standard. The purchase of a block of land at Azimpur under government favor in 2004 was another indication of the growth and advancement of Vikarunnisa Noon School, the location where the Hon. Prime Minister laid the cornerstone for moving the Dhanmondi branch. Instead of moving the Dhanmondi branch at the parents' request, a new branch called the Azimpur branch was established on the land purchased in Azimpur. Its operations commenced in the 2006–2007 academic year. On May 4, 2006, the People's Republic of Bangladesh's honorable prime minister formally proclaimed the beginning of the government. With the exception of the English branch, there are currently day and morning branches of the main branch in Bashundhara, Azimpur, and Dhanmondi.
