Holy Cross College
Holy Cross College, Tejgaon, Dhaka-1215
Holy Cross College started out with just five students on November 1, 1950. That happened a while back. The country was split into East Pakistan and West Pakistan in 1947. Lawrence Greiner, CSC, was the Most Reverend Archbishop of Dhaka at the time. For him, it was critical that girls in East Pakistan have access to higher education. Therefore, he especially asked the Holy Cross Sisters to found a women's college in East Pakistan. The Most Reverend Sister Augustine Marie was given this significant duty. Beginning on November 1, 1950, he began to serve. Reverend Sister Rose Barnard, CSC, gave her particular assistance in this work. Up until 1966, he conscientiously carried out this task. Sister Joseph Mary was CSC College's second principal in 1966. Mrs. Gertie Abbas served as the principal from 1971 to 1972. From 1972 through June 30, 2010, Sister Marian Teriza served as principal for a significant amount of time with tremendous commitment. Sister Joanne, CSC, Sister Rose Barnard, CSC, and Sister Joseph Mary, CSC, all took turns acting as principal during this period. Since July 1st, 2010, Sister Shikha Gomez, CSC, has been the principal.
