Bangladesh has a vibrant dance heritage that illustrates the development of South Asian dance over time, from the classical era to the present. It stands out for its diversity, adaptability, and depth in form and content. It is part of the global cultural heritage, transcending linguistic and political boundaries.
For many years, Shibli Mohammad and Shamim Ara Nipa have collaborated on stage. They are renowned for their magnificent Kathak performances as top exponents of Indian classical dance, but they are also experts in both folk and creative (modern) dance. No other dance duet in Bangladesh has come close to matching their level of fame, and no significant cultural event would be complete without them. Their professional collaboration is legendary. The chemistry between them is evident in their coordinated movements, which appear to be done with ease.
They worked together to create the Nrityanchal Dance Company in 2000, working with the late Muhammad Jahangir, who oversaw the company's operations and had extensive experience in the media and the arts.
